Can understand it if a player pushes to go by being bit of a cunt and going moody but if its to further their career or go to a bigger club to hopefully win things or enhance their international chances, then a bit more respect should be shown

OTB, Would like to think we would show a bit more appreciation and respect if Declan does go and then returns in other colours, nothing over the top, quiet round of applause but defiantly no booing or abuse shouted.
Be one or 2 of our lot I suspect who would boo but not on the level Villa fans did it, they must have VERY short memories, Grealish almost singled handily got them out of the Championship and kept them in the PL.

Before you believe the intelligence of Clinton Morrison and Glenn Murphy, the broadcast I listened to described it as panto-like, so I'm sure a lot of it was tongue in cheek.

Glen Johnson, Rio, Carrick, Joe Cole were just ignored.
Linguard at old Trafford in the League cup was booed because he was cheered in the previous league game and scored the winner.
Defoe was booed due to his naivety and perhaps his attitude when he was a young man
Lampard was booed which I always thought was a shame. His old man was one of the clubs greatest servants
Ince was booed but he was booed everywhere and couldn’t care less

If a player leaves as Ince, Frank or Defoe did then i can understand it, but when its someone who has given as much as Grealish did to Villa and could have left much sooner, then im baffled that the fans gave him that reception.

I well remember the stick that Craig Bellamy got when he returned with Man City. The word greedy seemed to feature in most chants aimed at him.
In fact Bellamy would have been happy to stay but the club basically had an offer that they could not refuse so off he went his transfer being softened by a better wage.
